If you choose to live in a state that is frequently hit by hurricanes and whatnot, don't complain about your insurance rates being high. Florida, I am looking at you.
Article
Some people are just plain dumb.
Whereas other, such as myself, are just plain sick. You like my transition from one topic to another? Yeah, I thought so. I have been sick all weekend with drainage and all associated symptoms and it has officially sucked. I think one of the worst things in the world is having a 100% clogged nose, if that is the right word. Every swallow pops the ears and it is generally unpleasant.
I did run back to the Woodlands despite my being sick and I spent a good amount of time hanging out with Dad at his place. It was nice. We didn't really do much but just hanging out was quite good. I also got his old laptop which, although its specs suck, is potentially going to be really useful. I just want it for internet access, microsoft office and its pc-ness. Its also really cool that I can plug its ethernet port into my mac's port with a normal cable and I am able to piggyback on my mini's wireless connection. The internet is great. I didn't know how to make it work so posted on 123macmini.com's forum and someone replied within 20 minutes or so. Anyway, I am getting off topic here. The laptop is old but an old laptop is better than no laptop at all, am I right or am I right?
An hour or so ago I finished my first final of the semester. What that also means is that I am done with my Romantic Literature class which I am certainly not heartbroken about. I have another one tomorrow in... no wait, I already took that final. Yeah, I don't have any tomorrow. Awesome. I then have three scheduled for Wednesday and then I am done. I really am not happy with how this semester went. I struggled to overcome an issue that I have been diagnosed with in the past but that has not caused any issues in a few years. I feel that I did the best I could, no, I never liked that. Its always possible to do better but I put forth lots of effort and I feel satisfied that I did my best given the circumstances. When I once again address the issue, I should be able to perform better.
I know that there is an aura around people with ADD. I realize that it is over-diagnosed and that many many people abuse it but I can attest that it is a legitimate thing. I agree that it can be controlled to some extent through learning how to effectively study and whatnot but it is a real issue that sometimes must be treated. I am not looking for excuses or anything because that is not what I want. I want to be able to focus on something long enough to get work done and this semester I seriously had issues with being able to do that. I could feel my brain wandering and then when I pulled it back I had to work to get my train of thought back, or, as happened many times, create an all new train of thought since i couldn't remember where I was going with something. I don't ask for pity nor do I want special treatment. I simply ask for understanding and I will do what it takes to get myself operating at my full potential.
Wow, I did not plan for that whole rant to find its way into this post but it did and I am going to leave it. I meant what i said and I said what I meant. Does that phrase make sense? I think its redundant. And now I am doubting that it is an actual expression that gets used. People do say that, right?
I am going to wrap this up now as I shared the article that i meant to share. If I built a house on quicksand I would not ask for a law to be passed that would save me money on constantly rebuilding my sinking house. Instead I would move and build somewhere that my house can stand.
The End.

I woke up around 7am on Tuesday and I have not been to bed since. I was going to try to do a full post but I think sleep sounds like a better idea seeing as how I haven't done that in, oh... about 60 hours or so.
And just so you all know, it is really easy to be productive when you have all 24 hours of the day at your disposal. If anyone can find a way to not have to sleep yet not be tired, that would be great.

Currently I am working on a presentation for my spanish class. Well, I have two but I can't keep them straight so I am not going to say which one it is for. Now I got myself all curious. Its my MW class so that would make it...... spanish grammar/composition. Ok, we got that out of the way so on with the story. I translated a website I was using as a reference by using Altavista's Babel Fish translator. While translating the page it displays an animated gif I guess to keep you entertained while it works or something. Here is the image:

Ok, I guess that doesn't look to bad. Let me get you a screenshot of it.....

There we go. There is simply no excuse for using such a pixelated image on a website. Expecially not from a company as big as Altavista. There are rules regarding the internet and that falls in line right behind animated gifs (wait, it breaks that rule too) and midi music playing in the background. Granted, the rules are unspoken but it should go without saying.
Anyway, I have to do a 5 minute presentation over some topic that relates to something hispanic. Did you know that the term hispanic A) comes from the latin word "Hisp?nus" technically should only refer to people from the the Iberian Penninsula and B) is a term that was adopted by the administration of Richard Nixon? I did not. I digress. I started off doing mine over the history of the mexican film industry but I think I am going to switch over to just focus on one actor, the Charlie Chaplin of Mexico, Cantinflas. The dude has a cool mustache and I think I will shave mine down to match his for the presentation and then get rid of it all together. Eh, I already have two pictures in this post. Whats one more?

Celisha came up last night and we went to Steph's birthday party where we played flipcup. I had never played it before but I think that it is my favorite drinking game ever. Let me describe this real quick for all you that, like me last night, have never heard of it. So you get two teams on either side of a table. Its basically a relay race where the first people go on each team and they have to chug a specified amount of beer (we were filling the plastic cups to the first line from the bottom) and once the beer is chugged you put the cup upside down on the edge of the table and flip it until you get it to land on the big open side of the cup. Once that happens, the next person gets to go and they do the same thing. You do this until one team finishes. It was fun. It goes without saying that my team won. Oh yeah.
I guess I should get back to my presentation. Peace out, Seacrest.

Wow, two posts within 24 hours? I must have a fever.
I think I accidentally duped Apple out of an Intel Mac Mini. Here is my theory:
My strange and seemingly inexplicable problems with my last Mini (and recently my current as well) might be explicable after all. I was expecting "explicable" to not be a word but apparently it is since its not underlined in red. Go figure. I digress. While I was in the dorm my computer literally sat inches from my fridge. My mini fridge to be exact, just like my computer. Anyway, I rearranged my room a week or three ago and shortly thereafter my computer began doing the same thing again. And just like before, my computer was within a foot of the fridge. I think that the fridge has an electrical field around it that interferes with the computer on some level causing the issue. My computer is now 3 feet or so away so if the issue stops occurring then I am really smart.
Smarter than the people at Apple at least for not thinking of it first. Never mind the fact that they didn't know the layout of my room but meh.
I need to go to bed but I just am not tired. Its kinda like last week when I was up for 26 hours in a row. I just simply wasn't tired and no amount of laying in bed would result in sleep. I have to get up early so if I don't get to sleep pretty soon I will be better off staying up and seeing how things go.
Lets go give this sleeping thing a shot.

I guess it is about to time to revitalize this thing. At least for this one post. I'm not going to go through that whole "I know I haven't posted in this thing for a while" thing. Thats rather silly since every post I make starts off with that.
Speaking of every post, there was a really long post that none of you have read. It did a wonderful job getting all caught up (at least as of a few weeks ago) but, yeah. It was a nice post. Take my word on that one. Damn blogger crashed when I went to go post it and I was unable to recover it. What good is a recover post option if it doesn't actually recover your post? Yeah, it sucked.
Kinda like the government. Just ask Tenacious D's new album. Tis a great album. I can say that first hand seeing as how I have it and everything.
A month ago right now Celisha and I were in Seattle, Washington. I will start at the beginning. Celisha's sister had two extra tickets to a Dave Matthews Band/Rolling Stones concert which were offered to Celisha and me. How could we pass that one up? We flew up to Washington and had a wonderful time. I can't even explain how great it was. And then the concert..... damn. We were 10 rows from the stage for Dave and it was a good, albeit short, show. Then The Rolling Stones took the stage. I went for Dave, I'll straight up say that up front but the Stones were amazing. It was funny that Keith Richards kept messing up on the songs but thats excusable. Considering all the drugs that man has done and his recent life-threatening head injury it was amazing that he could stand. If you ever get an opportunity to see them, DO NOT PASS IT UP.
The rest of the trip I will do in list form because I am lazy and I don't feel like trying to tie it all together in paragraphs. --We went to Hailey's soccer game. They didn't win but it was funny watching one of the dads get really REALLY mad. He dragged his injured daughter off the field while yelling at the refs, umpires, whatever they are called. --We had lunch at the top of the Space Needle one day in celebration of Amanda's 10th year of life. It wasn't her birthday but apparently they take their kids there when they are 10. It was probably the most expensive burger and fries I have ever seen. No, not probably. It was. But it had caramelized onions and whatnot. It was probably 100 times better than McDonalds so I guess it was bargain if you look at it that way. It was fun eating while watching the city of Seattle rotate past the windows. --Celisha and I walked to the grocery store a couple times. I know that doesn't sound particularly fun but it really was. Her company was great and the city/weather were as well. What else is needed to have a good time? Exactly. --We drove by Dave Matthews' house which was kinda cool. So many of the songs that I know and love of his were probably written, at least in their early stages, in that house. Heck, he might have been inside making himself a sandwich. Thats one thing I learned while I was up there. Dave Matthews is just a normal guy. He mows his own yard. He shops at the grocery store. Crazy. I had hoped I would run into him somewhere but alas, I had to wait until the concert. Oh well, maybe next time. --The first Starbucks is a rinky dink little hole in the wall. I did not expect that. Even though I had been told before going. --Greg works at Microsoft so I picked his brain a lot. It was fun but I always felt bad for the girls as they couldn't have cared less about how Microsoft ruined the original plan for Vista. --Greg is a great cook. We had some darn amazing meals.
I guess I hit on all the main points. If I think of any more, rest assured that I will post them. Since you were totally planning on losing sleep worrying that I would leave something off(x.) That was sarcastic. Wait, I am going to go back and put my sarcasm point. Ok, done.
School is going along. I have lots of papers hanging over my head and I am ready for the semester to be over. Soon enough. Soon enough.
Work is going really well. I am still a technician but I have since branched out and become a labbie as well. Its just extra hours for me and its great. I can do homework, surf the web and whatever else I feel like doing as long as it falls within their pretty basic rule system. I like it and the extra money is totally nice.
Speaking of extra money, I am working tomorrow morning and afternoon at registration or whatever is going on. Its going to kick me into overtime which is nice.
I don't know what else to write about. Heck, I wonder how many people are even going to read this. Comment or somehow let me know when you read this. I am just kinda curious how soon people are going to find this since its never updated and whatnot.
One more thing.... (I'm just like Steve Jobs) I got on Engadget.com today. Here. Down near the bottom of the article are links to related articles and I sent one in that was posted. And credited to me with a link to my blog. Nice. I felt like a celebrity when I saw that I made it on. I am easily amused but, as I was saying to some people at work today, being easily amused makes life so much better. If one is easily amused then it is fair to assume that they are amused often. That means life is better.
I think I am going to buy a Wii. Maybe next semester. We'll see.
I guess I am running out of things. No, wait...
Mom and I did dinner tonight at Ryan's in Conroe. It was a good time and it is a good feeling to be full. That doesn't happen very often. Pleasantly full. Not feeling like I am going to explode.
Aunt Jody came into town a couple weeks ago. It was good to see her and she was in town for my brother's birthday celebration. I guess I should mention that he was in town too. It was a good weekend seeing everyone and all. She really likes Celisha and thinks she is good for me. I like hearing people confirm that. I know it to be true but its good to have people saying it.
Ok, I am going to try to wrap this up before I come up with something else to write about. Wow, I made it to the end of the sentence without coming up with something. I guess I can go ahead and wrap this up then.
Its been nice talking to all of you and keep your eyes open, I am in the process of creating an all new layout/design for my site so maybe at some point you will see that come to fruition. And I apologize for that password thing on the main page. Its from the tagboard for some reason and it is annoying. Just update bookmarks to point to my blog and the rest of the site is reachable from here so yeah. I am working on it.

Courtesty of TheOnion.com:
Five Years Later NYC Unveils 9/11 Memorial Hole September 11, 2006 | Issue 42•36
NEW YORK—Days before the fifth anniversary of the destruction of New York's World Trade Center by terrorists, city officials gathered on the site where the Twin Towers once stood to dedicate the newly completed 9/11 Memorial Hole.
"From the wreckage and ashes of the World Trade Center, we have created a recess in the ground befitting the American spirit," said New York Governor George Pataki from a cinderblock-and-plastic-bucket-supported plywood platform near the Hole's precipice. "This vast chasm, dug at the very spot where the gleaming Twin Towers once rose to the sky, is a symbol of what we can accomplish if we work together."
Pataki then cut a ceremonial ribbon to release a giant blue plastic tarpaulin, reportedly the largest of its kind, which fluttered and snapped while slowly settling into the detritus and mud at the bottom of the 70-foot Hole, drawing a long, tired sigh of resignation from the estimated crowd of 50,000 who had assembled to watch and shake their heads.
Begun only days after the 2001 attacks, the Hole covers almost the entire footprint of the original World Trade Center, contains over 16 acres of empty space, and is visible as far away as Hoboken, NJ. Over $175 million has been spent on the Hole's development, and thousands of pages of proposals and designs concerning the site in which the Hole was excavated were reviewed in over 2,800 hours of meetings. Work crews comprising more than 7,500 welders, equipment operators, excavators, and other construction specialists spent long, often unpaid shifts in its depths.
"These five years have been admittedly difficult," Pataki said. "Inevitably, we heard from the naysayers who said we would never accomplish anything on this site. To those people, I invite them to gaze down at this magnificent pit if they want proof of New Yorkers' dedication to this project."
The Hole contains several symbolic features: A massive reinforced-concrete foundation known before 9/11 as the "Bathtub" now serves as the renamed "Remembrance Facing." According to official memorial literature, a gently declining plane into the heart of the memorial stands for the gradual but steady passage of time, and permits construction vehicles to enter and exit the site. Chain-link fences symbolize the present but nonetheless scalable barriers between different cultures. Lastly, the "Eternal Puddle," perhaps the Hole's most notable and arresting, as well as bottommost, feature, allows visitors to reflect on the tragedy, while the rainwater-and-seepage-fed Puddle itself reflects muddy swirls and oil slicks.
Officials did not immediately explain the significance of the ubiquitous yellow "Keep Back" tape present at the site.
Pataki refused to take sole credit for the Hole's completion, instead congratulating former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and current Mayor Mike Bloomberg, saying awareness of the World Trade Center site as a political symbol was important in ensuring the future of the Hole. Pataki also praised The Port Authority Of New York And New Jersey, "whose expert management of the site saw to it that nothing would obstruct the Hole once commuter-train service was restored.
The governor also thanked site developer and leaseholder Larry Silverstein, whose "keen business sense and stubborn desire for the area to be profitable was instrumental in this effort."
Pataki expressed deep admiration for the families of the victims, saying that "their endless and highly vocal input about the memorial were crucial to making the Hole possible in time for the fifth anniversary of the attacks."
"And of course, I commend President George W. Bush, whose administration provided the kind of ample, unquestioning financial support to the rebuilding project for which they are famous, from New York to New Orleans," Pataki said. "Mr. President, you as much as anyone have made the dream of this hole a reality."
The ceremony concluded with a somber wreath-laying ceremony at the Grand Scaffold by former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerek.
"Let this circle of flowers—brief, beautiful, and too soon gone—symbolize the respect we have shown for the memories of those innocents who lost their lives on that sorrowful morning by creating this great hole," said the Reverend Charles Bourne of Lower Manhattan's Trinity Chapel as the flowers sank into the brown, debris-strewn runoff at the bottom of the cavity. "I firmly believe, as does every person here, that this deep, empty hole has come to stand not only for the New York City of today, but also for the transformation of the entire United States since Sept. 11, 2001."

Today is Labor day. All I know about Labor day is that I don't have to go to school or work. I shall now remedy that....
courtesy of wikipedia.org:The origins of the American Labor Day can be traced back to the Knights of Labor in the United States and a parade organized by them on September 5, 1882 in New York City. They were inspired by an annual labor parade held in Toronto, Canada. In 1884 another parade was held, and the Knights passed resolutions to make this an annual event. Many other labor organizations, notably the affiliates of the International Workingmen's Association, favored a May 1 holiday. With the event of Chicago's Haymarket riots in early May of 1886, president Grover Cleveland believed that a May 1 holiday could become an opportunity to commemorate the riots. Thus, fearing that it might strengthen the socialist movement, he quickly moved in 1887 to support the position of the Knights of Labor and their date for Labor Day. Now we all know.
This weekend was the celebration of Mom turning 50 which actually doesn't happen until Wednesday. Brian and Christina were in town as were Rebecca and Jaime. Celisha is currently in Seatle which makes me really jealous. She went to a three day Dave Mathews Band concert in the Gorge. Damn thats cool.
Back to the birthday stuff, Friday night was the birthday party and we got half-price pizza from Domino's and did cake and presents and stuff. After the celebration ws over, Rebecca, Jaime and I drove up to Huntsville for a party at Allison's place. It was a good time. I got to show them my place and introduced them to Naveed who took a particular liking to Rebecca.
Saturday I had to work a token shift so I wouldn't get fired. I have to work at least once every 3 months to stay gainfully employed. My first run stiffed me. The second may as well have. And the third was decent except that it was at the mall so I had to deal with all that funness including weird looks from all the stupid little teenagers who get dropped off at the mall by their parents. Man I don't like those kids. After those three runs I went home. The way I look at it, I got paid 7 dollars to extend my employee discount out another 3 months. Not terribly shabby.
Sunday we went to Sweet Tomatos for lunch then I headed back to Huntsville. Yesterday was a pretty chill day.
This morning I got up and went to the store to get some groceries for the house. Its not even noon yet and I have already been productive. Gotta love that, huh?
Celisha gets back into town on Wednesday so I am going back to the Woodlands to hang with mom on her actual 50th birthday and we will go pick up Celisha at the Airport so it will be a good day.

Here I am once again sitting in a computer lab writing in my blog so that I don't buy food.
Food is overrated.
And expensive.
Damn money.
The first thing that I have to say is the following. Snakes on a plane. Oh... My... God...
I love that movie. I seriously do and I just thought of one of the reasons that it is so great a few minutes ago. Despite the character's name, the movie, in my opinion, is Samuel L. Jackson fighting a bunch of snakes on a plane. Oh yeah, Kennan of Kennan and Kel fame is there too. Generally, it is a disadvantage when the audience can not ignore the fact that a major celebrity is playing a character but in this case it is safe to say that it actually made the movie much better. It is not a film to be taken seriously so its alright. I don't really know what else to say about it. Its just something you have to see because there is no way to describe how great it is. Megan and Betsy went with me to see it Saturday night and it got honest and intense reactions from all of us. That is the sign of a good movie.
After it was over, I had so much adrenaline coursing through my veins that I couldn't hardly sit down for hours afterwards. Nick, Meagan and I eventually settled down and played a game of Monopoly until 3 or so in the morning then took the dog for two laps around the block. It was good fun. I certainly wasn't going to be able to go to bed right after sitting through that movie. Thats for sure, tell you what.
Saturday I took Dad to Houston so I could share with him the joy that is The Flying Saucer. We got an early dinner at Culvers with Grandma then the two of us headed south. We honestly had a really good time. We talked about whatever came to mind and drank beer. I think he dug it and that makes me feel good. I always worry when I take someone somewhere because I worry that they won't enjoy it. That I spent all this time building it up to be some super thing and that they won't find it to be that at all.
Maybe I worry about that too much but I don't know what to do about it.
I spent most of my day yesterday reading Pudd'nhead Wilson by Mark Twain. It was an enjoyable read but I found it to be tough to follow which made reading it all day rather difficult. The ideas in it, however, are magnificent. I won't describe it as it is too long and convoluted of a story but its worth checking out if you find yourself to be bored some rainy day. Its a short 140 pages so give it a go sometime.
I have noticed that I have used the term "found" or one of its variations many times in this post. Isn't it interesting how you can get stuck on a term? I think it is and if you disagree I don't care. Look at the address bar. Is it your name or mine up there followed by a .com? Yeah, thats what I thought.
You are on my terf now, baby.
Now that I got that behind me I don't know what else to say. There really isn't much of interest to be reported about my classes that I haven't already mentioned in either this post or the previous so I will let all that be until more things happen that are worth noting.
Eva has told me a few times in the last couple of months that I have really developed a style recently in my blog and that my writing has noticably improved as of late. I don't know if I see that, but I always feel a pressure to write well and within my "style" despite the fact I don't know what my style is. In other words, I am trying to do an impression of myself without knowing which aspects to imitate. A Ben Folds song comes to mind.
Anyone know which song? Whoever guesses correctly gets a cookie. Assuming that I have a cookie. Which I don't.
I think I had a trivia question in my last entry. I guess if they get good responses I may keep that up if possible. Let me know what y'all think.
When trying to type "think" I probably write "thing" over half the time. That, my friends, is annoying.
I think that is all I have for now. I'll probably blog again 48 hours from now when I am once again trying to avoid spending money. See you then.
So to speak.

Um, hello?
Is anyone there?
Does this thing work?
This is my coming back to blogging post. Other than that, it is something to distract me and keep me busy so I don't go buy food as this is my lunch break.
A lot has changed since I last posted in this thing. I now reside in Huntsville, Texas in a house pretty near campus. It really is a great situation. My roommates (Brandon, Sam, Nick and Naveed) are good roommates to have. In case you are wondering, Naveed is the dog and he is growing incredibly fast. Last I heard he was up to 50 pounds and he is going to triple in size. Crazy.
I have gone up to Shenanigans a few times while Brandon is bartending. I am not a huge fan of alcohol but its hard to pass up when the circumstances are what they are. Yes, I am being intentionally vague. I don't know who reads this and I know that anyone can. Tengo inteligente.
Twice since I moved in we have gone down to the Flying Saucer (beerknurd.com) down in Houston. That is a good place. Such a good place in fact that I am going down there this weekend with Dad as my birthday present to him. They have over 200 different beers, over 80 of which are on tap. Beer is not my favorite drink but this place has so many different kinds. Chocolate beer comes to mind. Yeah, they have chocolate beer.
Classes started on Monday and have been going well. i did drop one of my spanish classes in exchange for the same class with a different prof. It works better with my schedule and Emma and Allison are both in the class so I will not be lacking people with whom to study.
That last sentence reminds me of something. When I update workorders I sometimes read over what I wrote and laugh at how much of a dorky english major I am. I just tried to write a sample of what I write but it didn't work. Suffice it to say that I update workorders in a way manner that only an english major would.
Speaking of being an English major, I am increasingly getting closer to changing my spanish minor to a doubl emajor. By taking 7 more classes (less if I clep out of some) I can make myself much more attractive to prospective employers. Heck, someone today suggested that I go work for the government as a linguist and they will teach me more languages. I don't know about that, but it would be cool. Plus, he said they totally bank. That sounds good to me. The banking part. Also the learning more languages thing.
In case you can't tell, I am having trouble summing up the past month.
Life has been good. I had a good summer back home with Mom and Celisha. Celisha is a great girl. I consider myself lucky.
Brian moved to San Antonio this summer and just started classes at UTSA. He called me yesterday but my phone was dead because I thought that I was too cool to charge my phone. Either that or I just forgot to plug it in the night before. Either one. My point is that I need to call him back today. In other words, I am writing this part to remind myself to call him tonight.
Dr. Phelps, the professor I had a couple semesters ago that cancelled class ALL THE TIME cancelled class today. I am in no way surprised but its still obnoxious. If she had sent an email out 10 minutes before I would have gotten it and I could have worked an extra hour instead of sitting in a computer lab trying to kill time until my next class.
Visiting hours are 9 to 5 and if I show up at half past six Well I already know that youd find some way to sneak me in and oh Mind the empty bottle with the holes along the bottom You see its too much to ask for and Im *** *** ******.
I had that song stuck in my head all day yesterday and it just popped back into it so I stuck it in here. Without googling the lyrics, what song is that? Anyone? Anyone?
I removed the last few words for a reason. Deal with it.
Roger, Allison's little brother, moved up to Huntsville to go to school and we have hung out a few times. He is a cool guy.
I want to go see Snakes on a Plane but can't find anyone that wants to see it that hasn't. Anyone?
I can't think of anything else to write about and my wrists are hurting from typing. I am going to head back up to Evans for my next class. Peace out.

Chuck Palahniuk is great: "The laws that forbid you to drive on the sidewalk, to feel the thud of people crumbling off the hood of your car, the crash of bodies shattering your windshield, those laws are economically oppressive. When you really think about it, restricting your access to heroine and snuff movies is a restriction of your free trade. It's impossible to write books, authentic books, about slavery if the government makes owning slaves illegal."
Today is my birthday and its been rather uneventful for most of the day. Celisha and I got up and ran the block once. That was good. In fact, I need to go shower at some point.
Last night was fun. Celisha, Reb, Mom and I hung out around the house just talking and laughing. Good stuff.
Celisha is on her way home from work and I still need to figure out where we are going to go for dinner tonight. I just don't know.

I am at work waiting for a port clear to go through. Luckily I am in a lab so I am able to get online on a neighboring machine. Just sitting here waiting for an email to confirm that it has gone through.
Life is going pretty well lately. Life is good. Thats a good thing because who wants things to be going badly on their last day of being 21? Not me. Thats for sure. Its crazy, it doesn't feel like my birthday is tomorrow. What a shame it is that you can't hold onto that pre-birthday countdown kinda excitement that everyone experienced when they were younger. I guess when you are increasing your age by 20% or something thats a bit bigger of a deal than a 4.7% increase. (I think I did the calculations right)
Enough being deep. Onto the fluff that nobody cares about.
Celisha and I went on our free date night. It was a great time. Dinner was wonderful. We got an appetizer, two entrees, expensive non-alcoholic drinks, two desserts and it only cost $15 for the tip. The waiter was really good and I would have spent much more than that on half the amount of food we got so everyone won. After that we went to go see X-Men 3 which was enjoyable. There were some silly/hokey parts but it was a good movie to see.
The award for the first birthday present of the year goes to Eva who, upon hearing that my birthday was rapidly approaching, got me Stranger Than Fiction by Chuck P. I have only read the first two or three stories from it so far but I really like it. That guy is amazing.
What led to us being at Border's when she got the book is that her parents got a new computer from Dell and it wasn't working. I went over to take a look at it and found that the hard drive was plugged in poorly. Very easy to fix but it made me look like a BA.
Mom was out of town this past weekend for a COSA retreat. She had a great time and Celisha and I had a good time at home. Unfortunately, Bailey can not say the same thing. Saturday night she got locked in the pantry at some point where she spent the entire night. Sure, it would be bad to be locked in there for such a long period of time, but she made it infinitely worse by getting the worst case of diarrhea EVER. She tried to cover it with a bag but the smell was attrocious. Poor kitty. I am sorry I locked you in there. Maybe next time it won't look like such a good idea to climb in among the food stuffs.
I bought an album off allofmp3.com a legal website for 90 something cents. Thats pretty cool but it is even cooler when you realize that I got 99 songs for that amount. The album is called Short Music for Short People and its a compilation of punk songs from tons of different bands. The songs range from as low as 8 seconds to a minute or so but most fall right around 30 seconds. its rather interesting. On my way to work today I made it through over 70 and finished but the rest within the first 10 minutes of my lunch break. Coolness.
I don't know what is going down for my birthday tomorrow. I guess I should figure that one out.

I slept from around 1 or so until 8:30 or so this afternoon. I am also about to go to bed.
During my sleep I had a crazy dream that I must record for posterity. (Hi, posterity!) It was sort of a combination between Domino's and computer services. I was in the woodlands delivering a message from a person at SHSU that I have worked on her computer. I was getting around the woodlands on an old scooter that we used to have. It was basically a skateboard with handlebars. Anyway, I tried to find where the message was to go but I got lost. I ended up at John Cooper School but it was very different. Actually, I recognized it in my dream so maybe I had dreamed of this place before but whatever. I went and talked to a guy to find out where I needed to go. he looked at the message and told me that I needed to take it to Tennessee. I was upset because I didn't want to go that far on my scooter.
Thats about it.
I got up early and took grandma to her appointment downtown. Celisha came along which was very nice of her and much appreciated. We picked up Grandma at 6:45 and headed south. We got rather lost once we got to the medical center but we got that straightened out eventually and ended up being a little late which didn't cause a problem. the appointment was pretty useless as they didn't do anything but tell us that they were going to do something that we already knew they were going to do.
When asked if she smokes, Grandma said no. When asked if she used to, she responded that yes, she did back in college. She then added that that was like 102 years ago. She smoked like a chimney until she had her heart attack 7 years ago. I just thought that was funny and worth mentioning.
Brian, Christina, Celisha and I went on a double date the other day. We ate at Cheesecake Factory then went to Tinseltown to see The Davinci Code. Dinner was good but the movie wasn't. Not really. They left the window open to the projection room which was loud. Very clicky. I went back the next day and got two free movie passes. So now Celisha and I have a free date night. Free dinner at Red Robin and free movie. Victory! Success!
The squeeky wheel does indeed get the grease*.
I think that is about all I have right now. I am going to go to bed because I have to get up to go to work tomorrow morning. Goodnight.
*free dinner and movie

I have a goatee again. It was something to do yesterday/
Celisha and I took my car in to get the tires rotated yesterday and while they were doing that we went up to the mall area to kill time. We had lunch at Brio which was not only half off, but also included a free appetizer courtesy of one of the managers (we still haven't figured that one out). After lunch we went to the Apple store just for the heck of it.
I was looking around just like usual when one of the employees came up to me. She started talking and everything and eventually asked the unexpected question of where I work. I told her about computer services and all at which point she suggested that I apply for a position at the Apple store. I never really thought about that one but why not? I spend so much time there anyway I might as well get paid for it. My application is turned in and I am just waiting to hear back which I am pretty confident I will.
Work yesterday was stressful. Some guy from corporate was there which means all the rules that are never even close to being enforced were. I ended up getting Jill in trouble. I had a bank of $20 but I forgot about my wallet which had another 16 or so. I don't feel too bad. These rules are never even mentioned normally. Other than that I was off by 8 and had nearly $40 in my pocket that wasn't there at 5. I can't complain about that one much.
After work I pretty much just fell asleep.

So yeah.... the zoo closed at 4 except for zoo membership holders or something. We found that one out when we got down there. Thats cool. It worked out though because since I am such a badass I was able to get us from the zoo to the marq e entertainment place where we did glow in the dark putt putt. I managed to win by 1 stroke but it could have gone either way. Easily.
From there we went to Red Robin which was also at the mall place. We ordered and appetizer and an entree for us to split. The spinach dip came out about 1 minute before the entree. The spinach dip was good but the entree was, I would say, 5 degrees above room temperature. We waited for the waiter to come back by and asked if the dish was supposed to be a cold one. He said no so he got us the dish remade. When it finally came out 10-15 minutes later it was slightly warmer but also sitting in a large puddle of grease. At that point we asked for the manager. We got a free meal for 2 at any Red Robin. It only excludes alcohol and tip. It does not exclude appetizer or dessert. Hooray.
Although it is not supposed to be out until tomorrow, Celisha and I got tickets for the 10:00 showing of Nacho Libre tonight. I will let you know how it is.
I got the cd for The Ranconteurs, Jack White's new band. I love every song on it already. That is rare for having only listened to each one twice or so. It is great stuff. Check it out.

You aren't going to believe this, but I assure you that you should. Ok, so on my way to work I saw an upside down suv. Actually, I'll show you. I just got the pic off my phone and magnified the suv. Here it is:
But anyway, the thing you won't believe is that I saw another flipped over car on the way home from work. I don't know what it is about today and flipped cars, but right after I saw that second one I called Mom to make sure the Camry was still on all 4 wheels.
Work was slow and busy at the same time. I spent a lot of time trying to find things to do/look busy but I also had a decent number of workorders that I was able to work on. That was nice.
I am home for the night and I am home for tomorrow. Heck, I am home until Friday night. That doesn't mean I am not going to do anything. It just means I don't have to do anything. I always like that.
Apparently, I also like using itallics. Thats twice so far in this post. I bet its been a year or so since I last used it. Weird.

Time to cause some more controversy....
Brokback Mountain is highly overrated. I don't think it was particularly well-done. I don't think the story was anything all that special. I wasn't really very impressed with any aspect of it. Had it not starred who it did and had they not made out and been naked together and all I don't think it would have made a dent in the cinema. Thats my belief.
I ended up going to work today because grandma had not yet been transfered downtown for her procedure. Work was pretty good. I spent 6 hours installing a piece of software on 10 machines. It involves floating licenses and whatnot which is something I have certainly never dealt with before. The software is cool though. You can scan in a textbook or whatever and it recognizes all the text and can read it back. It is impressive.
I got off work and met up with Brian as he got off at the university center. We drove around a grabbed a beer (not at the same time) then met up with Mom and Celisha at Brian's place where we got to meet Abner, Brian and Christina's new cat. It is a pound or something tiny like that. It is a cutey.
I am going to be going to bed soon. But first, now that our internet is back on, I am going to try to get my car registered since I am like 3 months over due on that. Oh yeah, did I mention that by reading this you agreed to my terms of agreement? Yeah, you did, Mr. Officer.

I just took my temperature a few minutes ago and I was down to 98.4 which, although slightly lower than normal, is good since it isn't high. Hooray. Now if I could just get rid of this sore throat and whatnot.
Celisha is not feeling well today, however, so I called her in sick to work. I think she just has what I have so hopefully she will be better in a day or two. We went to Blockbuster and rented Spanglish and Brokeback Mountain (that one was her decision). We watched the first one already and I had forgotten how good that movie is. I guess we are saving the later for later. Thats a weird sentence....
Celisha decided to take Bailey along with us to Blockbuster which I was sorta reluctant about. I was pleasantly suprised. She just rode along in Celisha's purse and was completely content in doing so. We also took her to Kroger and she did the exact same. It was great.
That is my day thus far so peace out.

I'm not dead. I promise.
I realize I have not blogged for a long time and I really don't have any excuse for why except that I just simply haven't blogged. Thats alright, I am going to do my best to get you all caught up on what has happened since........well, May 29.
I have been driving to Huntsville 3 times a week for work. There really isn't a whole lot to report about that one. Generally work has been ridiculously slow but every once in a while I get some work orders. In one day I had to tell two different people that their hard drives had failed. I can't imagine how hard it would be to tell someone they were about to die or something...
About once a week after working up there I would hang out with Allison and Chris. A week or so ago we watched Clifford which was a thoroughly enjoyable movie. One day I helped Allison move stuff from her old apartment to her new house and then on June 3rd (I think) she had her house warming party which Celisha and I drove up for. It was my first experience with trashcan punch and it was good. I didn't drink too much since we had to drive bacck to the woods but yeah.
Celisha and I drove to South Padre Island one weekend to hang out with her friend from work. It was a good weekend but I got burned all to heck and just recently stopped peeling. It was a long drive down and back but it was with good company so I have no complaints.
Uncle Dave came into town on business and brought along his wife Jan as well. It was good seeing him again and meeting her. We (Mom, Dad, Reb, Dave, Jan and I) went down to Galveston for the day. I didn't bring a swimsuit so I just swam in my khaki shorts but it was cool. The waves were practically nonexistant especially compared to South Padre but it was a fun trip.
Celisha and I rented Waiting... the other day and invited Eva over to watch it with us which she did. While at Blockbuster, I also bought two previously viewed dvds, The Weather Man and Mr and Mrs Smith. I had never seen the first one but it proved to be a good one. The later is one I have seen and it is as good as I remembered.
Its good that I have had new movies around to watch because I have been sick for the past couple of days. The highest I caught my fever at was 101.7 but it was generally bouncing around between 100 and 101. My fever is down below 100 right now but I still can't swallow without making a face. I guess I didn't mention that yet. The sickness I had was a sore throat. My lymph nodes are all swollen to heck and swallowing hurts like a mofo. I think by tomorrow night I should be fine but I am thinking that I am going to take tomorrow off and make sure I am better before going back. I don't want to puch it too soon and get sicker again.
I have been working at Domino's on Fridays and Saturdays and really haven't been making much money at all. I am coming out more than even so its not bac but I really wish I was making more.
At the moment it is looking as though Betsy, Nick and I are going to be roommates next semester. Betsy found a place online that we are very interested in. Its a 3 bed/2 bath house on Avenue P for $900 a month which is reasonable when split three ways. Cross your fingers for us.
I just watched a show on the history channel or something about Hell and different religions' views of it. A few religions believe hell is a temporary thing that lasts as long as it takes to cancel out your sins. Kinda like jail or something. I really like that. Some catholic priest also quoted some bible verse I really like that says that all major religions and even non-religious people who are good people can still find God. I really want to find that one because that is exacctly what I believe. I think all religions have aspects that are right but none of them have everything right. If you take all the right aspects from all the religions and combine them then you can get pretty darn close. That is my goal.
I don't really know what else to write about. If I think of more I will try to write it later.

Saturday morning Mom and I got up and went grage sale-ing in Imperial Oaks. We did a few just the two of us (I got some wine glasses) then met up with Brian and did some more. I got a table and 3 chairs for $25 and it is some nice furniture. Pretty cool stuff. Brian and I got it tied on top of Christina's car and on our way back to his place we saw a cat under a truck. When we looked closer we noticed that it was a tiny little kitten with no collar. We got out and coaxed her out of the wheel well of the truck and took her home. She is our new cat and her name is Bailey. We took her to the emergency vet place today to check out a wound and hole on her chest and to see what could be done about the fleas. Turns out the wound wasn't what we thought it was at all. From inside the hole the vet pulled out a quarter sized fly larva thing that was dangerously close to hatching. Had it hatched, it would have traveled to Bailey's brain and she would have died. Now that it is removed, everything is fine.
She is an awesome cat. I will go into more details in a future post. Right now I am going to watch some episodes of Beavis and Butthead that I got off iTunes.
Goodnight, allbodies.

Quite frankly, I have been doing a horrible job keeping this thing even remotely updated. There really isn't any reason other than the fact that I just haven't been doing it.
Things have been going pretty well.
Work (computer services will just be called work and Domino's will be called Domino's) has been ridiculously slow. I do my best to keep busy and sometimes I find it to be impossible. I am enjoying it thoroughly and I am noticing marked improvement in my performance when I do have something to do. I have been driving to Huntsville for work Monday-Wednesday.
Domino's is about what you would expect. Sometimes slow, sometimes busy but it is beneficial to me in that i make more money than I spend so thats a good thing.
A week or so ago there was quite a hub-bub about a body that they found in a pickup in the parking lot right outside Blockbuster. I really don't know much about it other than the truck had been there almost a week before someone noticed the smell. If anyone knows more, do tell us.
I have been spending a lot of time with Celisha since coming back home. Its been great. We went to go see The Davinci Code and it was really quite entertaining. The script needed more work and some of the performances were not the best (particularly Tom Hanks) but it was a fun movie to watch. The roommate from A Beautiful Mind was like this albino guy or something. he did awesome.
Two of my ex-girlfriends celebrate their birthday today.
Happy Birthday, Lindsay.
Happy Birthday, Emily.
How weird is that?
Life is generally good. The house I was trying to get didn't work out which is a bit of a bummer but I have faith that we will find something else. The current place of interest is on the corner of Sam Houston and 8th. Is that the one? Who knows.
I am so close to beating Sonic 2. They give you no rings to defeat at least 2 bosses. That is no bueno. And to make things worse, there is no checkpoint between the two so if you die to the second one then you have to fight the first all over again. Damn Sega....
My mom got a black 2gig iPod nano the other day. She loves it. Now when her pc needs to be replaced she wants a macbook. I totally support that. Also, Brian is thinking of maybe getting one too. Apple should put me on the payroll.
That is all I can think of right now. Wait, http://www.engadget.com. I love that website. Now, that is all.

I am going to post in here then get back to work on my paper.
Work has been going rather well. They are finally assigning me workorders and I am learning to do them. I had one last week that I did all on my own and did it well. It makes me happy. I am pretty much keeping up with them as well. I think I have three right now and two of which I am waiting for the user to call me back so thats all I can do.
Joey goes away to the corgi rescue place. I am sad about it but he will have a happy life. So long, Joey.
I went to the gym the other day and ran exactly an 11 minute mile. Today I went again and ran the same distance in 8:42. That makes me happy especially since I haven't run in so long.
I am going to get back to my drug war paper. Peace out.

Oh the things that have happened....
I don't really know why I said that. I just felt the urge.
Anyway, I found out this past weekend that my great great great great great great great (thats 7 in case you are wondering) grandpa is/was John Alden. He was on the Mayflour when it brought the pilgrims over and that means he was probably at the first Thanksgiving dinner. How cool is that. He then went on to be acting governor of Massachusetts for a time and was the last surviving male signer of the Mayflour Compact. With that many greats I know there are a million people who are also related but how many of them know?
Oh, he is also the subject of the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow poem titled "The Courtship of Miles Standish." Miles was a friend of John Alden and according to the poem John tried to woo Priscilla Mullins on behalf of his friend but ended up marrying her, my great^7 grandmother, instead. Here is chapter 4 which is titled "John Alden":
Nevermind, its really long, here is the link to the poem in its entirety: http://members.aol.com/calebj/courtship4.html
Easter was good. I was home for the weekend, including Friday since my boss gave me it off, and it was a good time. We searched for easter eggs and I got candy and a slinky. Awesome.
I had a test on Monday in my class with Dr. Pease and I really think I did well. Hopefully we will get them back tomorrow but I won't hold my breath.
Work is going pretty well. I updated windows on numerous laptops which took almost 4 hours. Thats about all they had for me to do today but thats alright. I got into my groove and it wasn't too bad.
Celisha's car is no longer at TGI Friays. We went there on Saturday night with Emma for her birthday and when we tried to leave at 2 she couldn't find her keys. Reb had to come get us. Thanks, Reb. Anyway, it turned out that her friend took them for whatever reason. Its all good now.
I think thats all I have to say right now.
Peace out.

I have been meaning to mention this for a few days but i never remembered at the right time. I think it is amazing that after eating a bowl of froot loops and drinking the milk there is dry froot loop powder on the bottom of the bowl. How does that happen? I think someone should figure that out.

At least we won the game....

Dad came up for our 6:00 game so that was cool. The first time we were on the field I was out in left field and the ball was hit pop fly to me. It was short so I had to run quite hard to get to it but unfortuantely I ran a bit too hard and my glove went past it. My face, however thought it would pick up the slack from the glove and made its own attempt. I hit the ground and just layed there face down. I was mostly just shocked by what happened but then I used the oppertunity to take a mental inventory. My teeth felt intact (which kinda suprised me) so that was good. I layed there for a minute or two then got up and jogged to the water spigget and then continued playing. Its just crazy that so much less pain has made me cry before but I didn't shed a single tear. Shock is weird.
It was a good game though. I hit a gorgeous line drive, aka "frozen rope" down the third base line which got me to second. The basemen out there were even commending me on the nice hit. It was awesome. I scored a total of two runs during the game which contributed to our victory (20-14 I think). Dad and I then went to Chili's for dinner then he headed back home and I went to the second game which we also won. I spent the game in the bleachers cheering our team on. Kevin made some amazing plays. I just have to tell this. He was in the outfield and he ran for a ball that was hit to him. He slipped in the grass which caused the ball to shoot up and out of his glove. He then managed to catch the ball on its way back down in his bare hand. It was great. That game was 14-4. Bad News Bearkats rule.
This weekend was good. Not much was going on in Huntsville so when Brian invited me to come down and hang out I did. We had dinner at his place then spent the rest of the evening at the house. Oh, we just so happened to stumble across this stop sign. Yeah...

I spent much of today with Celisha and Landon. That kid is talking and whatnot. Its weird. He's a real person now I guess. We went to Northshore park and played on the new equipment. Good times.
Today was a really good day. The park was fun. The being home with Celisha was fun. Dad coming up for the game was fun. In fact, the team wants him to come back for our next game because he seems to be good luck. The winning was fun. If only it wasn't for that whole splitting my lip open thing....

I think I may have messed myself up. Sleeping for hours in the early to late evening is a bad idea because I don't know whats going to happen to me the rest of the night. Hopefully I will be able to fall back asleep soon.
I officially was hired at Computer Services today and I will start work at 8:00 monday morning. I am really looking forward to it although I can not say the same about the whole getting up at 7am part. I will certainly keep you posted.

Windows XP Profesional is successfully installed on my mac mini. OS X is still my default operating system (of course) but I allocated 7 gigs for XP. All I have to do is restart my computer while holding down the option key and I can choose my os. Awesome. In fact, I am blogging from XP right now.
I am going to go take a nap now. I am so incredibly tired. I can hardly function.

Yay for excessive updating of the blog!
My Apple Mighty Mouse broke again. It has once again stopped scrolling down. This is the third one I have had since November or so. I think I am going to go talk to them about getting my money back. This is silly. The guy at Apple Care even suggested I get a new 3rd party mouse because he is not a fan.

My KIN 215 class was turned into an alcohol awareness presentation. It was retarded. Here are some memorable quotes:
"Alcohol is a drug and if you choose to use it you choose to be irresponsible."
"A drug is a drug is a drug. Nothing changes from one to the next." (comparing alcohol to weed to cocaine)
I scored a 3 out of 40 on a survey that is supposed to let you know if you have a drinking problem. This is what it said about me:
"A score in this range indicates that your drinking has not yet reached a dangerous level. You may have a few drinks each week and drinking may not have begun to cause trouble with other people in your life."
What the heck? not yet reached a dangerous level? How pessimistic is this thing? The program really pushed for abstinence when it comes to alcohol and he made a point of saying that one drink a year on your birthday is NOT abstinance. How unrealistic is this thing? Very. How much of a waste of time was it? A big one.
People are going to drink. Encourage them to do it responsibly instead of just telling them not to do it all.
Retarded.
I just took my spanish test and I think I got an A but a B wouldn't suprise me. We'll see.

I make a point to be in the process of changing lanes whenever I cross the border of Montgomery and Walker counties. Its my little way to pay homage to my bro.
I have spent the past few hours at Denny's in Conroe with Celisha helping her study for her Brio tests. It was kinda deja vu.
Speaking of tests, I have a spanish one tomorrow. I should be alright but I will study tomorrow regardless.

I just got an A- on the group project in Modern Drama. I can live with that.
Earlier today I downloaded Boot Camp which let me install Windows XP on my computer alongside OS X. I have already deleted it and returned my computer to only OS X. For some reason, the XP partition was the dominant one and when I restarted my computer that was the default. I had to hold down a button during boot up. No bueno. Also, it wouldn't recognize my ethernet so I couldn't connect to the internet. It is still in beta so hopefully it will get better. I love the idea.
